I'm sorry I have been so terrible at blogging. Maybe I'll be better once the wedding weekend is over, but who knows really! I want to be better, I really do, I just can't seem to get myself to do it most days. I also have this silly thing where I'll find something cool, consider posting about it, and then decide not to... thinking "everyone's probably already seen it anyway...". I know, so silly. I'll try to get over that and just post about everything I find! I think I also need to accept the fact that sometimes I can just post a couple images and not have to say anything about it at all. The images and links would be enough, right? I am always looking at the most random yet amazing things. Oh, internet, how I love you so! (I hate you a little too, so don't get full of yourself).
Okay, now that that's out of the way, I wanted to stop in here and share a new quilt I started last night. Quite a while ago I decided that, instead of having the typical guest book at our wedding, I wanted to create a special quilt top for all of our guests to sign. After the wedding is over I will embroider all of the signatures into the fabric, and back and tie it. This will in turn be a "guest book" Justin and I can sleep under for years to come, reminding us of that special day which we shared with all those we love.
I started said quilt quite a few times over the past three or four months. Last night I started over again, on a whim, and finally began creating Our Wedding Quilt! The white squares are large enough to hold a signature, but still small enough to be subtle (Plus they are cotton that was pulled from the backs of Audubon prints by my book conservation/artist friend Sarah. Thanks Sarah! I have gotten so much use out of all this lovely material!). I've been having fun picking out my most favorite (mostly vintage) fabrics from my stash and mixing them all together. I know our wedding is only a couple weeks away now (AHH!) but I am confident I can build this quilt to a nice size by then. Look! I only just started and have completed nearly a quarter already! (Okay, it's smaller than that, but I am still feeling optimistic!)
I still have a great photo of our amazing wedding invitations to show you, but, in an effort to spread out my far too sporadic blog posts, I will show you tomorrow. Maybe.
